That Hope and Jones went to Bricklife and Odyssey build Battle Buses thing to get rifted there and that it wouldn't make any sense to happen in LEGO. Blogpost seems to use BR story as well.

Nothing ever imply that. He may teleport them once he activates them, that doesn't mean they are from the realm directly. Lightrider used rifts in survey, they likely forgot to change.
